TIAMA EGYPT · MEASURE BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
Furniture size guide: plan dining, bedrooms and storage.
Choose furniture for your home in Egypt by its complete footprint, the space needed to use it and the route into the room. Start with your measurements, then confirm the selected Tiama configuration.
Dining-table space calculator
Enter centimetres. The calculator adds the same selected space to every side; it does not choose chair capacity. Defaults are an illustrative 180 × 100 cm table with 80 cm around it. Your entries stay on this page and are not saved or submitted.
Planning envelope: 340 × 260 cm
Bounding area: 8.84 m²
For a rectangle: length + twice the selected spacing; width + twice the spacing. For a round table, use the diameter for both. This assumes equal space on all sides and does not assess an irregular room, doors or other furniture.
How much space does a dining table need?
Add the table’s confirmed outer length and width to the space you want around each edge. For example, a 180 × 100 cm rectangle with 80 cm on every side uses a 340 × 260 cm planning envelope. These are illustrative measurements, not the specifications of a particular Tiama table.
IKEA’s dining-planning guide suggests roughly 60 cm of eating space per person and at least 80 cm behind the table edge. Treat these as general starting references. Chair arms, table legs and a busy route behind seated people can require a different layout.
Mark the proposed tabletop on the floor with removable tape. Place the actual chairs, pull one out and walk behind it. Keep the room door, balcony route and sideboard doors in the test. A clear tabletop footprint alone does not show that the dining area will work.
How many chairs will fit around it?
Start with the number of people who eat together every day, then consider occasional guests separately. Check the usable edge between the legs or supports, the chair’s widest point and whether armrests slide underneath. A long top with widely placed legs may seat differently from a top of the same length on a central base.
Send Tiama the specific table and chair links with your proposed arrangement. Ask the team to confirm compatibility for the selected sizes. A product name or a photograph with styled chairs is not a seating-capacity promise.
Bed size: mattress or complete frame?
For a bedroom in Egypt, record the mattress length, width and thickness in centimetres, then request the complete frame’s outer length, width and headboard height. Upholstery, rails and a projecting headboard can make the overall piece larger than its mattress. Compare those outer measurements with the room plan.
Do not choose from “double”, “king” or an unlabelled Size option alone. Confirm which measurements the selected option represents and whether a mattress is included. Mattress labels differ across markets; this guide does not declare a single national bed-size standard.
Place bedside tables and the wardrobe on the same plan. Allow for opening drawers, changing bedding, reaching switches and using any under-bed storage. Check a storage lid’s open height if it could meet a window, shelf or sloping ceiling.

Wardrobe depth and opening space
Measure the available wall at floor level, halfway up and near the ceiling. Note skirting boards, beams, sockets and air-conditioning pipes. Ask for both external and usable internal depth; door thickness, the back panel and fittings affect how much storage remains inside.
Test the full path of hinged doors and drawers against the bed and nearby furniture. Sliding doors still need a clear approach and access to the storage behind each panel. For hanging clothes, check the usable depth with your own hangers and the types of clothes you store.
Where a Tiama wardrobe is priced per square metre, confirm the quoted width, height, depth, internal layout and finish together. A width-by-height price calculation describes the quoted front area; it does not establish wardrobe depth or the floor space required.
Sofas, tables and everyday routes
Measure the sofa’s total width and depth, not only the seat. Include projecting arms, a chaise or an extended footrest where relevant. Keep a usable route between the entrance, seating and balcony, then place the coffee table within that arrangement.
For a small apartment, try the most frequently used furniture first. A bedside table, sideboard or console can share a visual style without every piece being equally large. Compare the actual storage need with the space each piece takes, and check the nearest door or drawer before adding another item.
Check the delivery route before confirming dimensions
Record clear doorway openings, lift-door and cabin dimensions, stair widths, landings and tight turns from the building entrance to the final room. Include ceiling height where a piece may need to tilt. Packaging can add size; ask whether the selected piece arrives assembled and which parts, if any, can be removed by the delivery team.
A piece that fits the room may still fail at an earlier turn. Send the measurements and route photographs to Tiama before confirming the design. This planning tool cannot certify lift, stair or installation access. Read the current ordering and delivery information before submitting your request.
Your measurement checklist
- Room length, width and ceiling height.
- Doors, windows, sockets and fixed obstacles marked on a simple plan.
- Chosen product links and exact size, material and finish options.
- Outer furniture dimensions, opening clearances and any mattress dimensions.
